Embryolisse Moisturizer review

Is Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Good for Oily Skin? Here’s My Honest Review

When it comes to skincare, French pharmacy brands have long held a reputation for creating effective, no-nonsense products that deliver results without unnecessary frills. Among these treasures, the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré stands as a testament to French skincare philosophy: simple, effective, and versatile. As someone with oily skin who’s always searching for that perfect balance, discovering this moisturizer was a game-changer in my beauty routine.

Embryolisse – A FRench Pharmacy Legacy

Before diving into the product itself, let’s talk about why French pharmacy skincare holds such a revered status in the beauty world. French pharmacies are known for carrying dermatologist-recommended products that prioritize skin health over trendy ingredients or luxurious packaging. These products often become cult favorites not through flashy marketing but through word-of-mouth recommendations from makeup artists, models, and skincare enthusiasts who value results over hype.

Embryolisse, founded in 1950, exemplifies this approach. Created by a dermatologist at a Parisian hospital, the brand’s products were initially only available in pharmacies, focusing on healing and nourishing compromised skin. This medical heritage explains why their formulations tend to be straightforward yet effective, with ingredients chosen for their proven benefits rather than their marketing appeal.

The Iconic Packaging

The Lait-Crème Concentré comes in an aluminum tube that’s both practical and nostalgic. The metal packaging serves multiple purposes: it keeps the product fresh, protects it from light degradation, and allows you to squeeze out every last bit – something particularly appreciated given how precious each drop becomes when you discover its perfect application amount.

The recent redesign maintains the product’s pharmaceutical roots while adding a touch of modern elegance. The aluminum tube features clean typography and a simple color scheme that feels both clinical and sophisticated. It’s the kind of packaging that wouldn’t look out of place in a French pharmacy or a luxury department store.

What I particularly appreciate is the tube’s size options. The 30ml travel size has become my go-to for several reasons: it’s TSA-friendly, takes minimal space in my skincare bag, and lasts surprisingly long given the small amount needed for each application. The larger 75ml size is perfect for home use, but I’ve found the smaller tube more practical for my lifestyle.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré: Less Is More

The genius of Lait-Crème Concentré lies in its deceptively simple formula. The key ingredients – emollient oils, shea butter, beeswax, aloe vera, and soy proteins – work together to create a balanced moisturizer that adapts to different skin needs. What sets it apart, especially for oily skin types like mine, is how little you need to achieve optimal results.

Here’s the game-changing discovery that made me a convert: a pea-sized amount is genuinely all you need for your entire face and neck. This isn’t one of those marketing claims that falls short in reality – using more than this tiny amount actually diminishes the product’s effectiveness, especially if you have oily skin. The cream spreads beautifully and absorbs well, providing hydration without heaviness.

Simplified Routine for Oily Skin

As someone with oily skin, I’ve always been skeptical of multiple-step routines and layering products. My experience with the Lait-Crème Concentré has reinforced my belief in minimalist skincare. One of the most significant benefits I’ve discovered is how it eliminated my need for a separate primer.

The cream creates an ideal canvas for makeup without adding an extra layer of product to my face. It provides just enough grip for foundation while maintaining its intended finish. This dual functionality is particularly beneficial for oily skin types who often struggle with products pilling or sliding off throughout the day.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Application Tips for Oily Skin

Through trial and error, I’ve developed a foolproof application method that works perfectly for my oily skin:

  1. Start with a thoroughly cleansed face
  2. Take a pea-sized amount (err on the side of less)
  3. Apply in gentle, upward strokes
  4. Apply a mattifying sunscreen
  5. Wait 2-3 minutes before applying any makeup
  6. If you feel like you need more in certain areas, add the smallest amount possible

The key is patience – the cream takes a few minutes to fully settle into the skin. What might initially feel like not enough product often proves perfect once it’s had time to absorb.

Cost-Effectiveness and Longevity

While the price point might seem steep for the size, the cost-per-use makes it incredibly reasonable. Because you use such a small amount, even the travel-sized tube lasts for months of daily use. This longevity, combined with its multi-tasking abilities, actually makes it more economical than purchasing separate moisturizers and primers.

The French Approach to Skincare

The success of Lait-Crème Concentré reflects the broader French approach to skincare: prioritizing skin health over quick fixes, focusing on quality over quantity, and maintaining a consistent, simple routine. This philosophy particularly benefits those with oily skin, where over-complicating skincare can often lead to more problems than solutions.

Final Thoughts

The Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré represents everything great about French pharmacy skincare: it’s effective, versatile, and focused on skin health rather than trends. For those with oily skin who are tired of complex routines and multiple products, it offers a simplified solution that actually works. The key is understanding that with this product, less truly is more – both in terms of the amount used and the number of products needed in your routine.

What makes it stand out isn’t just its performance, but how it encourages a more mindful approach to skincare. It’s taught me that effective skincare doesn’t need to be complicated, and that sometimes the most impressive results come from using less product, not more.

Have you tried incorporating French pharmacy products into your skincare routine? How has it changed your approach to skincare?

Finally tried a tubing mascara. Heard lots of good things about the @toofaced Ribbon Wrapped Lash mascara so I had to give it a try and see if it’s actually worth the hype.

First of all, I love how this formula doesn’t flake or run! Perfect for those of us with watery eyes 😭
Love this mascara but I personally prefer more volume so I mainly wear it for when I want to look put together in every day settings
